Ikhtisar:In this FREE 2019 report from Business Insider Intelligence, Lyft VP Megan Callahan explains the ride-hailing giant's journey into healthcare.
As the healthcare industry continues its pivot toward digitization, more nontraditional players are pegging healthcare as a growth pillar. And some entrants are honing in on leveraging their tech to tackle drivers of health that might not be addressed in a hospital setting.
Social determinants of health — or health-influencing factors outside clinical settings — drive the lion's share of patients' health outcomes.
Addressing the barrier to reliable transportation, for example, and ensuring that patients have a means of getting to and from appointments could help health organizations stave off the costs associated with missed appointments.
This has opened up an entry point for ride-hailing services to make inroads into the health space. But ride-sharing giant Lyft isn't stopping there.
As part of our Digital Health Pro coverage, Business Insider Intelligence recently spoke with Lyft VP of healthcare Megan Callahan to learn more about Lyft's journey into the health sector.
We discussed the ride-hailer's healthcare partnerships — a list that's been rapidly expanding — that are propelling it deeper into the nonemergency medical transport (NEMT) market. And Callahan offered us a glimpse into some potential future health-focused projects for Lyft.
